The Consequences of Driving Without Insurance in Oregon

Oregon law requires all cars to be insured by their owners. A large percentage of cars, however, are driven every day on the Oregon streets and highways without car insurance. The consequences of getting pulled over without insurance are 1. a fine, 2. impound fees, towing and storage costs, 3. increased cost of your car insurance and 4. SR22 requirement for 3 years. If your are involved in an accident and don’t have insurance, your license will be suspended for a year. If it is your fault, you must pay for the other party’s damages and injuries out of your own pocket.
